5 Ways you can #OPTOUTSIDE for Black Friday

After learning about REI's #OptOutside project we thought, "That's a hashtag we can get behind!" REI is starting a "movement" to Opt Outside the Friday after Thanksgiving (only 3 days away!) instead of joining the crazy crowds of psychotic holiday shoppers (no offense but, we've seen the videos and these days some people will do ANYTHING to get that toy, game, or sweater on sale!) YIKES!

Now, don't get us wrong we understand the craze of a great deal and we support you in finding ways to save money. I mean, we have families too and we know how expensive the holidays can be.

Here is what we encourage and what we can't help but agree with regarding REI's #OptOutside "movement".

We value our loved one's and we definitely value the outdoors. So why not create memories with those you love? Below we have created a short list of things that you could do to #OptOutside this holiday season. We hope to see you out there!

1. GO FOR A HIKE.

Research a hike near you (or maybe you already have a favorite?) Either way, make it a priority to get some fresh air. Just think about it, you'll even be walking off a bit of that Thanksgiving meal. ;)

2. HEAD TO THE MOUNTAIN.

Many of the local ski resorts have announced that they plan to open up the day after Thanksgiving. Get a move on and start counting those mountain days!

3. OPT FOR SLEDDING.

The snow has started falling and what better activity is there to put smiles on your kids faces? We know we can't help but smile when we're sledding down the hill. Grab the sleds and inner tubes out of storage and go find the snow!

4. TAKE A WALK.

Bundle up and take a walk around the neighborhood. Enjoy being close to home and find beauty in where you live.

5. VISIT A NATIONAL PARK.

A few of the National Parks have announced that they plan to have free admission on Friday - take advantage and #OptOutside.
