Whitewater Kayak Instruction near Seattle

Are you interested in learning to kayak but have limited time in your busy schedule? Wildwater's certified kayak instructors have developed our two day rapid progression kayak course for individuals with little to no hardshell kayak experience and is designed to fit the average person's schedule. This specific course is best for people with an adventurous attitude, strong swimming ability, and an eagerness to learn.

2-day Rapid Progression Whitewater Kayak Instruction

In this 2-day course our instructors will progress through the basic knowledge and skills of whitewater kayaking at a rapid pace so we can spend less time practicing and more time kayaking. We will spend the first half of day one learning basic strokes, edging, bracing, and other fundamental skills. The second half of day one will be spent moving downstream while applying our skills. All of day two will be spent on the river paddling class I-III rapids and improving on technique. During these two days you will learn about river hydrology, rapid classifications, river hazards, and other important topics while practicing proper paddling techniques.

These 2-day courses are taught throughout the Spring and Summer in the Wenatchee Valley near the Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth Washington. Most of the rivers of Washington are cold which makes the Wenatchee river a great place to learn because it is one of the warmest rivers in the state and there are nearly 300 days of sunshine a year. Wildwater may accommodate other locations upon request.

“The two day intro to kayaking course was such a great experience, thanks to our guides Scott and Megan. They were true professionals... always keeping safety first while maintaining a fun and light-hearted experience. We had a larger sized group (8 ppl), but they did an excellent job of giving each person sufficient 1-on-1 instruction. We did two different sections on the Wenatchee which were great stretches for beginners -- good mix of slack water for wet-exit and T-rescue practice, but enough whitewater to keep it interesting. Based on the two guides that we had, I would suspect that the business owners do an excellent job of hand picking their guides. Highly recommend!”
